Cesspit Installation

4% of the population of the UK do not have access to mains drainage. In most cases a septic tank or sewage treatment plant is used. However, in some cases, water cannot be discharged through the ground or in a ditch, in this eventuality a cesspit will be required to store the waste ready for removal by a licensed waste carrier.

  • Sewage and greywater (e.g. from baths, washing machines, showers) is sent to the tank through pipes in the house.
  • The tank is designed to hold 45 days worth of wastewater
  • There is no outlet to a cesspit, it is used to just hold the water.
  • We always fit a high level alarm to notify you when the tank is full
  • A cesspit is only used when you cannot use a septic tank or sewage treatment plant.
