Environmentally Friendly Solution Installed In Challenging Conditions

Ashmans Farm
Ashmans Farm is situated in the Blackwater valley between Braxted & Kelvedon in the heart of the Essex Countryside.

Mr Goodwin contacted Owls Hall Environmental when a recent flood caused excessive ground movement resulting in the farmhouse’s existing septic tank collapsing in. This resulted in a large, unstable area that needed to be dealt with urgently. Using specialist equipment and drawing on our significant experience we were quickly able to propose and install a permanent solution that met Mr Goodwins needs and budget.

“Owls Hall are a highly professional outfit. They kept me informed at all times and did a great job with the installation.” Mr Goodwin, Ashmans Farm.

Selecting the right sewage treatment plant

The Goodwin family have been farming at Ashmans Farm since the early 1900s. When the farmhouse’s septic tank failed, Mr Goodwin contacted Owls Hall Environmental following an online search. We immediately arranged a visit to the farm to asses the problem first hand. With a clear picture of the site and Mr Goodwins requirements, we were able to quickly propose a range of wastewater treatment plant solutions to choose from.

The WPL Diamond DMS2 sewage treatment plant proved to be the most cost-effective solution. It also required a smaller excavation than some of the alternative solutions and features a small and discreet lid.

“The Owls Hall surveyor talked me through all of the options and I particularly liked the fact that the WPL Diamond has very few moving parts.  The reliability of the system as well as the low cost for maintenance made this sewage treatment system the best option for me.” Mr Goodwin, Ashmans Farm.

A smooth installation in challenging conditions

With a high water table in the area we anticipated challenges with water ingress during this domestic sewage treatment plant installation. This information was shared with Mr Goodwin at an early stage however when we began the excavation it quickly became apparent that it was one of the wettest domestic installations that our team had been involved in.

With experience of similar challenging installations in our commercial civil engineering work we quickly reacted. With shoring and a pump in place within 24 hours we were able to prevent water from entering the site. Specialist concrete was then used to anchor the new tank and to protect it from any further water ingress and damage.

“After meeting the sales team, surveyors and the installers I felt very reassured. They kept me informed at all times, they did a great job with the installation and they left the site nice and tidy.” Mr Goodwin, Ashmans Farm.
