M1 Junction 13 Balfour Beatty Site Compound

Balour Bedford

Following the success of previous partnership projects with Balfour Beatty’s civil engineering division. Owls Hall Environmental were approached to assist Balfour Beatty in the design and installation of onsite reticulation drainage systems at their construction works, A4211/ M1 Junction 13, Bedford.  The systems were to service their main and onsite compounds providing accommodation for 150 employees, up to 450 works personnel and 100 caravans.

Owls Hall engineers assessed the site and the requirements of the compound, taking into consideration other factors. Including: tight timescales, poor weather conditions and the design needed to incorporate both a concrete and a foam mix plant.

Once the assessment was complete Owls Hall installed pump stations, separators, treatment plant and temporary storage, plus, UV and alarm systems, drainage and ducting.  They key to success with all of these types of projects is to ensure our team communicate and integrate with all other contractors on site. As well as managing the communication and obtaining the relevant licences for connections and discharges with Environment Agency and Anglian Water. To ensure the operation runs smoothly and work can be maintained throughout the whole installation process.

The project was successfully completed within the agreed time line and all parties were very satisfied. Brandon Cromhout Team Leader, A421 Earthworks commented. “We have found both Owls Hall management and site staff to be both  professional and proactive. I would recommend them for future works”
